If I were to ask a family of local farmers to take a few days off in early August, they would probably think I was out of my mind. Those are the booming days of mid-summer, when just about everything that has been planted for the season is coming on in full force — some fast-growing veggies, like zucchini, requiring two harvests per day. The weekly demands of Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) shares and farmers' markets drive a frenzy of farm activity for all available hands.
